Situated on Yale Street in the heart of Houston, this adaptive reuse project breathes new life into an abandoned urban structure, transforming it into a vertical hydroponic farm and community wellness incubator. The project challenges traditional food supply chains by introducing a hyper-local, year-round agricultural system directly into the urban fabric.
Designed as an interactive public matrix, the building invites citizens to actively participate in the cultivation of their own produce. This agricultural engine directly feeds the building's culinary program: a vibrant, open-air restaurant on the ground floor and an elevated community cafeteria on the second level. By fusing hyper-local production with public hospitality, the architecture creates a closed-loop system where the journey from seed to table spans mere feet, fostering community engagement and sustainable urban resilience.
